Rebecca Kinney - ICS Faculty Fellows Lecture

Rust Belt Chinatowns: Restaurants, Race, and Redevelopment in the Twenty First Century

Rebecca J. Kinney is an Assistant Professor in the School of Cultural and Critical Studies and Popular Culture at Bowling Green State University. Kinney's talk will cover her in-progress book, Rust Belt Chinatowns: Restaurants, Race, and Redevelopment in the Twenty First Century. By placing Asian American space at the center of a Rust Belt story her ethnographic research simultaneously challenges the coastal bias of Asian American Studies and the black-white bias of studies of the urban Great Lakes.
